What We Offer

At Little Ducklings we have access to various activities to keep our children entertained and stimulated in order to aid their development.

Playball

The aim of Playball is to introduce young children to constructive and enjoyable sport participation through various age-appropriate programmes.

Playball focuses on laying the basic foundations of movement, in order to enable your child to accomplish more challenging sport related skills, as they get older. Young children are still discovering the wonderful things that their bodies can do, and benefit from lots of practice in basic skills through fun but structured sessions.

Yoga

Starting yoga at a young age encourages children to build awareness and confidence within their bodies whilst developing their strength, flexibility, balance and coordination. Alongside the physical benefits, yoga also calms the mind, encourages children to learn to relax and allows creativity by exploring postures through games, adventures and storytelling.

Cooking

Learning the basic skill of cooking, that can be used for the rest of your child’s life, is perhaps the most obvious skill gained.  By starting the cooking lessons at a young age, it becomes a skill that they are well adapted to by adulthood.

Stirring, measuring, rolling, squeezing and spreading are just a few of the kitchen tasks that allow young children to develop their fine motor and hand-eye coordination skills.

We have the added benefit of our allotment to grow our own fruits and vegetables and then add these to our recipes.

Allotment

We visit our allotment frequently where we grow our own fruits, vegetables and plants throughout the year. We then pick them to use in our snacks and our cooking classes. This not only gives children a sense of pride and achievement by watching their plants grow, it also promotes responsibility and understanding by caring for the plants and about cause and effect, e.g. plants need water to live.

Keeping our allotment engages us with the local community as we share produce. Some of the allotment members keep chickens and our children love visiting and feeding them. It also teaches our children about caring for the environment and growing your own food will reduce carbon footprint.

Outdoor Learning

Our outdoor secure garden is carefully prepared and planned to ensure all children take part in a wide range of stimulating activities such as climbing, riding and balancing. They will also practise key skills such as navigating uneven surfaces, running safely on their whole foot, throwing and kicking balls and even using tools and materials for a purpose, all part of the statutory framework.

The use of the large playing field is the perfect place to practice those skills on a larger scale and we encourage our children from a young age to take a keen interest in the environment and we love taking trips to our local village whether it be to the church or to visit the horses in surrounding fields.
